About John Atkinson

Been working in the television industry since the late 20th century. Created three animated short films as calling cards, which garnered awards and some very enjoyable time on the festival circuit. Then moved into work creating motion graphics for Travel Channel, History Channel, National Geographic, Discovery, and more. Then went to work at JAK Films (a division of Lucasfilm) to provide graphics for their release of the "Young Indiana Jones" series to home video. I wish to continue working in the documentary realm, but also to make the transition to more corporate and sales-oriented fare. I am also continuing to grow my talents in the area of screenwriting by working on a number of projects that are currently under development. Most recently I have been learning Python and C++ and investigating how to utilize recent trends in AI to assist in the artistic and post-production industries. Specialties: I tend to be known as "the Map Guy" because of the strength of the work I provided for the History Channel for the past several years; that's what got me the job at Lucasfilm. However with the maps I merely apply the same philosophy I use for all motion graphics, and that is to convey the information, look superb, mesh with the overall look and style of the show, then get the heck out of the way.
