About John Bachofner

During his over 34 years as a lawyer admitted in Oregon and Washington, John R. Bachofner’s practice focused on jury trials, arbitrations, and mediations of disputes involving insurance coverage, personal injury, products liability, business, bankruptcy, and creditor’s rights issues. He appeared in hundreds of civil cases in state and federal courts, as well as hundreds of arbitrations and mediations. Over his more than three decades practicing law, John became familiar with the unique challenges faced by large corporations. His work ranged from companies with local regulatory agencies to interpreting complex contracts to representation in litigation. He was a frequent lecturer at seminars, client and bar-sponsored events with respect to creditor's rights, insurance coverage, business, and litigation matters. His reputation and breadth of experience earned him the Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent® rating, the organization’s highest rating; listing in The Best Lawyers in America®, Litigation – Insurance; a Superb Rating from AVVO; and listing in Washington Super Lawyers, Creditor-Debtor Rights. During the last 20 years of his practice, John’s litigation experience increasingly led to him being selected to serve as an Arbitrator, Mediator, or expert witness in insurance, personal injury, and business matters. As Alternative Dispute Resolution services became a more prominent part of his practice, John decided to retire from private practice on 12/31/22, to focus on serving as an Arbitrator, Mediator, or consultant through Bachofner Arbitration & Mediation - An avid scuba diver since 1982, John is an independent scuba and Emergency First Responder instructor for PADI and NAUI. He is a former worship vocalist and Lay Pastor in Marriage Enrichment at East Hill Church, a former worship leader at East Hill Vancouver, and currently a worship vocalist at Battleground Foursquare Church. In addition to diving and singing, John’s hobbies include underwater photography, travel, ham radio (KJ7AOL), electric biking, swimming, movies, and exploring the outdoors with his wife in their Fifth-Wheel trailer Specialties: Arbitration and Mediation.
