About John Barry

I am a politics nerd. I spend my free time reading Politico and The Hill before I turn to my fantasy football team. My passion for politics has served as the basis for my best work as a student and intern. I genuinely enjoyed the work I did as a Politics major and as a two time congressional intern. This passion has benefited my work by allowing me to dedicate myself to tasks that other employees may not enjoy to the same degree. One of my favorite tasks in former Representative Carolyn McCarthy’s office was monitoring the video feed of the House floor. I was then able to utilize one of my greatest strengths by compiling this bulk information into memos for other staffers. I utilized this skill in Representative Steve Israel's office by attending briefings and hearings on behalf of staffers and providing memos detailing whatever pertinent information was presented. In addition, by immersing myself in politics during my free time, I am able to draw on a wide base of political knowledge that I accumulated by reading work from great minds across the political spectrum. Finally, my experience in computer science affords me a wider skill set than many other political science majors. I am proficient in the Python, Java, and C programming languages, and have experience working with the Eclipse framework.
