About John Beasley
Operational Research (also know as Operations Research) is concerned with the effective modelling and solution of decision problems. My research interests lie in developing appropriate formulations, and computationally effective solution algorithms, for such problems. The majority of my work has been concerned with decision problems modelled as combinatorial optimisation (integer programming) problems. I have developed both exact (optimal) algorithms and heuristic algorithms for the solution of such problems. The most recent Stanford/Elsevier list detailing the top 2% of scientists in the world in all fields ranks me 14th in the world, 2nd in Europe, in relation to Operations Research.
