About John Bernbrock

Graduate of the University of Notre Dame 1971. Served in US Navy SEAL Teams, trained in Coronado, CA (Honorman of BUD/S Class 67) and subsequently based in Little Creek, VA. After that, I lived in Thailand for a time, teaching English and worked for a short time in a leper colony near Laos border. Upon my return stateside, I settled into the life of a computer programmer, a husband and a father.(It's been perfect bliss, if anyone were to ask.) Having had a 'fiction addiction' since the age of 20 and lacking any cure for such an affliction, I now lead a quiet life on the Wisconsin shores of Lake Michigan with my beloved wife of 38 years, Mary Burke. I've authored over seven novels and dozens of short stories, though Broken SEAL is the first novel I've published. I worked as a volunteer with incarcerated felons (like-minded individuals) at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for over 10 years. Then I converted that volunteer time to our local VA Hospital here in Milwaukee and a homeless shelter. Years ago, I overheard a neighbor say that I was "a pretty good guy." Nobody will confirm nor deny. The neighbor remains unavailable for comment.
