Dr JOHN-ANTHONY BERRY is Dean and Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta. He is President of Societas Oecumenica, a European Society for Ecumenical Research as well as a presidium member of the European Society for Catholic Theology. Berry earned 6 University Degrees mainly in Philosophy and Theology after completing his studies at the University of Malta and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. In 2007, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Leuven, Belgium and at Institut Catholique de Paris, France. Since then, Berry has been invited at various prestigious institutions, namely K.U. Leuven, Belgium; University of South Bohemia České Budějovice, Czechia; T.U. Dortmund, Germany; Universität Hamburg, Germany; Trinity College Dublin, Ireland; Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Braga, Portugal; Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń, Poland; Pontifical Faculty of Theology, Wroclaw, Poland; The University of Rijeka, Croatia; Evangelical School of Theology, Wrocław, Poland; and Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv, Ukraine. Berry is the secretary of the Diocesan Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and a member of the Interfaith Integration Forum established by Ministry for Justice, Equality and Governance. He was also a consultor to the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity as a member in the response team for “The Church: Towards a Common Vision. Faith and Order Paper No. 214.” He was a theological expert to the Archdiocesan Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and a member of the Inter-Diocesan theological Commission. He has published extensively, namely in Scientia et Fides; Melita Theologica, Questions Liturgiques/Studies in Liturgy, Roczniki Teologiczne; Biblica et Patristica Thoruniensia and Teresa. His recent book titled 'Yves Congar’s Vision of Faith’ was published by Gregorian University Press, Rome in 2019. His forthcoming publication is “Love Alone: Hans Urs von Balthasar on the Trinity and Paschal Mystery”.
