About John Birmingham

A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one. This regularly misquoted saying has pretty much summed up the past decade of my life. From crawling into plane-mounted racks to terminate low-loss RF cables and pulling apart black boxes for troubleshooting, to writing operational safety procedures and leading test crews—I’ve had a front-row seat to the kinds of high-stakes, detail-driven environments that demand you think fast, stay calm, and adapt constantly. After six years in the Navy as an avionics tech and hazmat officer, I moved into the world of autonomous vehicle testing—first at Apple, then Aurora. At Apple, I was responsible for operational safety and compliance for a vehicle fleet and cadre of drivers. I coordinated logistics, managed risk, and worked cross-functionally to support real-world test data collection at scale. From there, I transitioned into IT sales at Insight, where I now manage enterprise accounts and help clients navigate solutions that actually solve business problems, not just tick boxes. My path hasn’t followed a straight line, but it’s given me a unique blend of hands-on technical skills, operations leadership, customer service, and strategic thinking. I’ve worked on tarmacs, in test labs, behind dashboards, and across Zoom screens—and the common thread through all of it has been a willingness to learn, lead, and solve problems that don’t come with a manual.
