Experienced scientist and manager of research groups specializing in x-ray – matter interactions with more than 15 years of experience at synchrotron and x-ray free electron laser (FEL) facilities. I led a team to design, build and commission the first experimental instrument for Atomic, Molecular and Optical (AMO) science at the world’s premier x-ray free electron laser. I have been a successful leader of multidisciplinary teams of scientists, controls and mechanical engineers, and technical staff building and operating complex state-of-the art large-scale scientific equipment at U.S. Department of Energy funded multiuser facilities. I am currently leading a scientific group operating, maintaining and improving a VUV-soft x-ray beamline at Synchrotron SOLEIL in France. Excellent written and oral communications skills and engaging public speaker able to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences ranging from scientific experts to the general public.
