About John Brehm

I'm a poet and teacher and occasional freelance writer/editor. I teach poetry workshops and reading-as-a-writer courses at Mountain Writers Series and Literary Arts in Portland, Oregon, and at The Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver, CO. I've taught courses on Whitman and Neruda; Elizabeth Bishop; Frank O'Hara and James Schuyler; Philip Larkin; Frost and Williams; Wislawa Szymborska; Adrienne Rich, Anne Carson, and Lucia Perillo; and others. I also offer manuscript consultations and one-on-one tutorials with poets. My poems have appeared in Poetry, The Southern Review, The Gettysburg Review, Gulf Coast, The Sun, The Missouri Review, Poetry Northwest, Barrow Street, The Writer's Almanac, The Norton Introduction to Literature, The Best American Poetry, etc. I have two books, Sea of Faith and Help Is on the Way, both from the University of Wisconsin Press.
