About John Bulow

I am a recent mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Idaho. I chose to study engineering because I want to analyze and solve practical problems. There’s nothing I find more satisfying than creating something useful. During my time in school, I developed a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, and gained experience in mechanical design. I have taken advanced courses in thermal systems design, lean manufacturing, and systems control theory in which I gained a deeper understanding of physical phenomena and design principles. I also have experience using computer aided design tools. I have advanced skills in SolidWorks, including sheet metal, weldments, assemblies, and some simulation tools. I am capable of generating machine ready drawing packages including GD & T specifications. I am familiar with finite element analysis and FEA software such as ABAQUS. I am also comfortable writing code and analyzing data using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW. My work on a variety of technical projects, has greatly expanded my competence in mechanical analysis and design. Most recently, my capstone design team and I designed and modeled a system of modular goat milking stanchions which involved modeling hundreds of components. The assembly and part models were used to procure a drawing package and manufacturing plan for our client, Peterson Metal Products, who is currently building a full-scale prototype.
