About John Bush

My professional and academic background is multidisciplinary incorporating engineering, science, advocacy, and education. I hold a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and a BS in Environmental Sciences from the University of Vermont. I am especially interested in research and developing technical solutions to improve the sustainability and security of energy, water, and food resources. Prior to my graduate studies, I worked with grassroots biofuels initiatives and played a key role in the establishment of small businesses and cooperatives in Colorado and beyond. I taught courses on biodiesel processing and chemistry with a particular focus on audiences who lack a chemistry or engineering background. I also worked with others in the industry to cofound an international conference focused on the advancement of community-scale biodiesel projects. In addition to my work as a scientist and engineer, I am a professional musician and have performed and recorded with a number of artists in the bluegrass music community of Colorado.
