About John Buxcey

I am driven by curiosity. I love working with people. My purpose is to help others build their better future. I presently split my work time between sessional lectures, one-on-one sessions with clients, developing and facilitating workshops, developing curriculum, writing my dissertation, and growing my consultant business. I am an experienced designer of ergonomic and safety principles in the work place, sport, community, and my personal life. I am presently a term sessional instructor in the School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education and am a recent recipient of a Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Graduate Certificate. I also have experience conducting workplace inspections, and designing and facilitating workplace safety training protocol courses. I was a Principal Investigator of a Physical Literacy Intervention in School District 62, SD 61 and one Montessori School in Greater Victoria. The aim of this research was to evaluate physical literacy mentorship in a professional setting and its effect on children's physical literacy. This research was one of the first to evaluate the impact of a school physical literacy program. This particular research intervention received ethical approval from the University of Victoria to begin work in School District 61 and the Maria Montessori Academy. The intervention involved 40 - 50 Teachers and 800 - children over a 10 month period.
