About John Byron

Dr. Byron is a dynamic teacher and public speaker with a desire to serve both the church and the academy. He is Professor of New Testament at Ashland Theological Seminary. He completed undergraduate studies at Elim Bible Institute in Lima NY, an M.A. at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA, a year of post-graduate work at Jerusalem University College in Jerusalem, Israel and a Ph.D. at the University of Durham in the UK. He is the author of six books and more than 30 articles. He served as a translator for the Common English Bible, a columnist for Biblical Archaeology Review and excavated at Tel-Gezer in Israel. He has been married to Lori Byron since 1990. They spend their free time cycling and traveling together. Dr. Byron has over a decade of leadership experience with vision and management skills that drive transformative impact, empowering diverse communities. A proven fundraiser for institutions and local nonprofits, he has adeptly led boards, managed multi-million-dollar budgets, and engaged with accreditors. As Academic Dean and then Dean of the Seminary he led a faculty/staff of 40 and up to 600 students, stabilizing and expanding enrollment and finances. He skillfully envisioned and executed strategic plans, while showcasing strong managerial prowess.
