Background
About John C. Sheehan
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the University of Utah School of Medicine, Department of Population Health Sciences, Division of Health Systems Innovation and Research. My work focuses on developing and implementing digital health and serious game interventions to build cognitive and behavioral flexibility across the lifespan, with an emphasis on real-world implementation. I collaborate across multiple labs at Utah, including neurotherapeutics, digital health, and serious games and applications, to advance systems-focused approaches that translate research into impact.Previously, I co-developed the Dino Island serious game and served as principal creator of its accompanying Parent-Child Cognitive & Communication Training Program, funded by the Kids Brain Health Network. I also co-developed the Computerized Preschool Executive Function Battery (CPEF) for early childhood assessment. Across these projects, I have led cross-platform integration, community-led iterative development, and multi-site piloting and controlled trials in healthcare, school, telehealth, and community settings, supported by both academic and industry partnerships. I also serve on the Kids Brain Health Network's Program Advisory Committee, which helps guide national priorities for child and family neurodevelopmental research and implementation across Canada. My broader goal is to bridge research, clinical practice, and technology to transform how we assess and deliver cognitive and health interventions. I aim to scale solutions that are rigorous, accessible, and impactful across diverse populations, and I welcome opportunities to connect with collaborators and organizations advancing innovative digital health strategies.
