About John Capon

I am a Psychologist and Workplace Mental Health Strategist with over 15 years' experience working with organisations, teams and individuals to help them to be well and thrive. In short, I work with clients to co-design and implement solutions that drive performance by protecting and enhancing the psychological health and wellbeing of their people. Day to day I work alongside leaders, HR and WHS teams within client organisations to establish leadership support for workplace mental health and wellbeing (MH & W), run psychological risk assessments to inform MH & W strategies, and co-design and deliver solutions that create a psychologically healthy workplace and allow workers to bring their full selves to work. I prescribe to the mantra that ‘no worker can thrive if they are not physically and mentally healthy’ and I strongly believe that people should leave work in a better psychological state than when they arrived. That said, I recognise that investing in mental health also has to make sound business sense and I particularly enjoy working at an executive level to sell mental health and wellbeing as an organisational performance enabler. I hold a Masters of Science (Industrial/Organisational Psychology) with 1st Class Honours and a Master of Applied Psychology (Sport Psychology). I also provide volunteer welfare and wellbeing support to ex-service women and men as a RSL Victoria Welfare Officer and committee member of the New Zealand Sub-Branch Victoria RSL.
