Background
About John Carpenter
Nominated "Trial Lawyer of the Year" 2017 Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles I am very passionate about the welfare of children. I have two youngsters of my own. I love being a husband and father, it is the best part of my life. I also love helping other families to put their lives back together when it is destroyed by the negligence of others. I am an experienced jury trial lawyer. I am a graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College. I pride myself on trying tough but meritorious cases; I do not take the easy cases to trial and then brag about the results. I started out handling and trying cases other law firms rejected. I know how to try tough cases and get good results. I am proud to say that defendants and insurance companies respect and fear me and my firm. We get results that other firms can't. Here are some of my recent results: Rachel Fernandez vs. State of California non-economic damages - September 2, 2016 - Downtown Los Angeles) Wrongful Death/Negligence/Negligent Entrustment The total award to all plaintiffs was $45.0 million dollars. All of the money was awarded to compensate the children for the loss of their mother's love. None of this award was for medical bills or loss of earnings. Just love. Wrongful death verdicts are often pathetically low when done by other lawyers. My $45.0 million dollar verdict helped to raise the bar of all settlements in wrongful death cases for the entire plaintiffs’ bar. Antonio Pureco v. David De La Torre Carillo - August 5, 2016 – Los Angeles) Negligence - Brain Injury Mr. Pureco was returning home from work as a landscaper. He was hit while making an illegal mid-block U-turn on a commercial street. The insurance company for the defendant in this case valued this case at less than I showed them that they were very wrong.
