About John Chambers

Mr. Chambers is an independent businessman, investor, and board member. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Tenaz Energy Corp, Condor Energies Inc, Vermilion Power Technologies Inc. and the Avalanche Canada Foundation. Mr. Chambers was previously the CEO of FirstEnergy Capital Corp, Canada's largest energy focussed investment bank, and subsequently became the Vice Chairman and President of GMP FirstEnergy until 2018. At FirstEnergy he was responsible for managing the company's strategy and day-to-day operations, including overseeing the financial and regulatory functions of the organization. Mr. Chambers was the Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee and active in the firm’s Investment Banking group. During his tenure, FirstEnergy completed over financings and $100 billion of M&A transactions. Mr. Chambers holds an MBA (International Finance) from McGill University, a B.Sc.(Geophysics) from the University of British Columbia, and an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. In 2002, he and his partners received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Prairies Region, for Financial Services. In 2006, Mr. Chambers was recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40. In 2016, Mr. Chambers was awarded the McGill University Desautels Faculty of Management - Management Achievement Award, and was instrumental in FirstEnergy receiving and maintaining Gold Standard status as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies for many years. From 2009 to 2017 Mr. Chambers was on the board of directors of the Investment Industry Association of Canada (now the Canadian Forum for Financial Markets), where he held the position of Chair of the Board in 2015 and 2016.
