About John Chriest

I had always been interested in coding but never realized that it was actually accessible. So, when I found out that I could attend a bootcamp to learn those skills, I took the leap. I attended a 15-week intensive coding Bootcamp at the Flatiron School in NYC in early-mid 2018. There, I learned, Ruby and Rails, Javascript and React with Redux/Router, and SQLite3. I'm new to the coding lifestyle, but I fell in love and enjoy building websites and web apps with this newfound knowledge. I also just completed a 15-week apprenticeship at 2U where I focused on learning Python and AWS tools for ETL of data. I am eager to learn as much as possible in the realm of software development as I can. So, I just started Harvard's CS50 course on EdX, and I plan to deepen my understanding of the field through similar continued learning. I've spent many years in the music industry, composing and playing music. I also founded an artist collective and hosted meetings meant to coordinate how we would plan, promote, and manage large events. My focus within music has always been to create an inclusive experience. A few times I have been asked to play events as an ambient musician with the intent to create the feeling in the space. I very much enjoy this improvisational feel of playing for hours and feeling how the room is responding and adjusting accordingly.
