About John Clarkin

John Clarkin has been working in the golf industry for the last quarter of a century. Following a London City and Guilds Degree in Greenkeeping, John graduated with distinction from Pennsylvania State University, USA, in 1994 where he studied Turfgrass Management. He returned to Ireland where he assumed the role of Director of Golf Operations at Powerscourt Golf Club, Co. Wicklow, which he constructed, grew in and maintained for three years. Subsequently, John established Turfgrass Consultancy Ltd. Turfgrass employs 10 people including Agronomists, Project Managers and Course Superintendents. Over the last 17 years John has established a reputation as one of Europe’s leading golf course development and management advisors specializing in Agronomy, Project Management, Grow in and Maintenance, Recruitment and Private Putting Greens. He has spoken at numerous European and International Golf Federation conferences and has developed an extensive network of industry contacts across the world. John’s clients include; Golf Club de Genève, Switzerland; Evian Resort, France; Vidauban Golf Club, St Tropez, France; Lϋbker Golf Resort, Denmark; Monaco Golf Club, Monaco, the 2015 Solheim Cup venue at St. Leon-Rot in Germany and the 2015 US Open venue at Chambers Bay in Washington. John also personally built and manages private golf academies for World Number 1, Rory McIlroy and for 3 time Major winner Padraig Harrington.
