About John Dannar

Electricity has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. From taking apart old electronics as a kid to troubleshooting lighting and motor controls as an electrician, I've always been interested in figuring out how things work. As a professional in an ever-changing industry, I continue to be intrigued by cutting-edge ideas and technology. My path to become a journeyman electrician started when I realized that joining an electrical apprenticeship program was the most cost-effective and efficient way to become a true craftsman. In 5 years I learned the fundamentals of being an electrician through a combination of on-the-job and classroom training; focusing on AC/DC theory, lighting, motors, and, most importantly, the NEC. My tenure as an electrician has consisted of working on the commercial and industrial side of the field including the construction of hospitals, preventative maintenance on transmission and distribution systems, and service work. As a service electrician, I grew my troubleshooting skills working on lighting controls and wiring methods, installing lighting upgrades, and implementing power monitoring where I developed a strong interest in energy management systems. In recent years, I've leveraged my knowledge as an electrician and customer service expert in the world of lighting & electrical project management. As an EL01 Electrical Administrator in the state of WA, I've helped guide electricians through installations and troubleshooting of lighting and control systems by being the expert and intermediary between engineers and inspectors. I strive to continue growing my skills in these areas with the goal of being a well-rounded professional in this industry.
