About John Daugherty

What brought me into the jewelry industry was an accident. I was shopping at the mall and went into the jewelry store. After a conversation with the salesperson, I was convinced to apply for a job. So, I applied, and wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t get it! I was motivated to chase down the District Manager, interview with him, and get hired, which started a successful career. What brought me to The True Gem was an undeniable relationship with business owners who had a purpose. A purpose with passion for responsibly sourced gemstones and diamonds which are affordable and beautiful while speaking to a following like nobody else in the industry. A purpose built around social responsibility leading me to connecting with socially and eco-friendly options. As the CEO of The True Gem, I understand responsibly sourced jewelry is our product, but our people are what make the experience. I believe investing in talent, so they can embody the values of The True Gem. Investing in talent means we can be an ambassador for our customers, a following they can relate to, and a company they believe in. Big-picture planning, thinking, and sticking to the trajectory are what I ultimately do as CEO. Working directly with our executive team to chart our path forward without losing sight of where we are in the moment. Ultimately, ensuring the need to keep inventory, products and experiences fresh while always looking for and connecting with new partners within the industry. I enjoy spending time with my 5 children, networking in the community, and if I can squeeze in a round of golf, it’s a great week. I’m driven to read leadership books and consume content which inspire me as part of my morning routine to expand my overall leadership mindset.
