About John Dewolf
Interdisciplinary designer John deWolf has worked in various mediums, including print, interactive, broadcast, exhibition, environmental graphic design, and interior design. He has an extensive background in analyzing and deconstructing complex structures and designing accessible communication strategies, particularly for large public audiences. As a senior interactive designer for Two Twelve Associates of New York, John supervised three retirement planning software packages for mutual fund giant, T. Rowe Price. Work also included interface design for The Economist Group’s website. A personal achievement includes work for Census John has also worked with and managed large-scale signage teams for such clients as Walt Disney Imagineering, Trinity College, the Chicago Park District, Queens West State Park, Seattle’s Sound Transit, Indiana Purdue University, Yale University, Parks Canada, and the Halifax Regional Municipality. John was the lead exhibition designer for three major photography exhibitions: Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990—2005, and Richard Avedon: Portraits of Power. He also designed a permanent exhibition for the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. For Fathom Studio (formerly Form:Media and Ekistics Planning & Design), Recently, John managed daily operations and served as lead design and creative director for numerous award-winning projects. As Director of Fathom’s Experiential Graphic Design, and Interpretive Planning and Exhibition Design departments, he worked on projects from coast to coast to coast for Museums, Universities, and municipalities. John was regular part-time faculty at the NSCAD University, teaching in the Foundation and Design divisions from 2001 through 2006, and was awarded the NSCAD Faculty Recognition Award in 2003 for outstanding teaching performance and dedication to enhancing student life. He was also an adjunct faculty member for the Corcoran College of Art + Design. Mr. deWolf’s graphic and environmental graphic design work has received numerous awards in various design publications. He is also an author, regularly contributing to Applied Arts magazine and Landscapes/Paysage.
