About John Dillaway

John has been involved in the Pharmaceutical business his entire career. Working at the H. L. Moore Drug Exchange during the "Birth of the Generic Drug Industry" John has vast experience and business relationships within that industry. After serving as Senior Vice President of H. L. Moore (Moore Medical), John left to establish his own company in 1997 forming Medical Specialty which provided pharmaceutical consulting to both manufacturers and dispensers'. In 2008 he sold Medical Specialty to Ascend Laboratories which was acquired by Alkem Labs in 2012. Today John serves as Executive Vice President of Ascend Labs which has developed a significant presence in the generic industry as a quality manufacturer and supplier. In addition to his work activities John maintains an involvement with the Hospital of Central Connecticut, a member of the Hartford Healthcare system, serving as a board member for 10 years and as Board Chairman from 2011-2014, during which time the hospital opened its freestanding Cancer Center and initiated its partnership with famed provider Memorial Sloan Kettering of New York. He is currently a Director Emeritus. The hospital is a major healthcare provider in Central Connecticut and has campuses at New Britain General in New Britain and Bradley Memorial in Southington. Hartford HealthCare is the largest affiliation of hospitals and healthcare providers in Connecticut. The affiliation includes Hartford Hospital, The Hospital of Central Connecticut, Mid-State Hospital, Backus Hospital, Windham Hospital and many other regional healthcare providers. In October of 2018 John joined the Board of Directors of Care Partners of CT, a Medicare Advantage Health Insurance company that is a joint venture of Hartford Healthcare and Tufts Heath Plan. In his leisure time John enjoys reading and is a collector of fine wines and has earned the WSET 1 and WSET 2 wine awards from the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust.
