About John Dunlevy

With over 25 years of work experience in the media and technology sectors, I am a seasoned digital product and strategy leader with a passion for optimizing online content and presentation for web, email, and social media delivery. I have a strong background in web development and site management, including HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, analytics, digital marketing, SEO, and various advertising and CMS platforms. As the Director of Digital at the Chicago Reader, I successfully led the development and launch of several new digital initiatives, including podcasts, newsletters, social media campaigns, and e-commerce platforms. I improved website performance, usability, and design, resulting in increased traffic, retention, and revenue. I collaborated closely with editorial, sales, design, and publishing teams, as well as outside vendors and clients, to ensure alignment and integration of goals and functionality. I also have extensive experience in network and systems administration including Linux, FreeBSD, and cloud-based servers running Apache HTTP Server, WordPress, mySQL, Sendmail, and Postfix. I have set up, configured, and supported PC and Mac workstations and particularly Adobe products for end users working in on on-site and remote networked client-server environments. I have worked as a Google Workspace administrator.
