About John Elk

I’ve been in the Fire Service for the last decade. The Fire Service is very special to me and will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve had the distinct honor to serve my hometown city as both a firefighter and then as a Fire Lieutenant. Hungry for experience I spent my 9 years with Pittsburgh in the busiest firehouses in the city. I recently moved to Southern California and am interested in continuing to serve. I’m open to any firefighting opportunity that comes my way. I have an extensive background in fire protection/suppression, truck company operations using chainsaws to cut holes in the roof. Throwing extension ladders and being comfortable working off of ladders. I am NREMT certified. I achieved the rank of Lieutenant and as LT you’re the company officer for am Engine Company. You manage a crew of 4 firefighters at emergency scenes. You’re also responsible for conducting pay roll, scheduling, maintaining a log of the shift, and writing reports on incidents in a timely manner.
