About John Ferriera

Hi! I'm a third-year student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on the Pre-Med track. I have research experience as a member of the Farkas Research Group, where I maintain an insect cell line to express core Circadian clock proteins. I plan to use nanobodies to track the interactions between these proteins. I have experience mentoring and working with people with Autism and disabilities through my hometown and The Boltwood Project at UMass. I also have volunteered as an algebra tutor for Amherst Regional Middle School. I am now using my tutoring experience to supplement my position as a TA for UMass' Biochemistry Department and a Supplemental Instructor for UMass' Chemistry Department. I am working as an EMT-B for UMEMS and am eager to further my knowledge in the emergency medical field. I also volunteer at both Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Baystate Medical Center. I hope to combine my interest in science/medicine and my affinity for helping people from a wide range of demographics by pursuing medical school with a specialization in Pediatrics and Family Medicine. I am currently seeking research, clinical, volunteer, and shadowing opportunities. Please reach out and connect!
