Primary Responsibilities • Collaboratively create the vision and plan for the Network and Unified communications team and lead its execution. • Develop, track and manage the operating budget for the Network and Unified communications team. • Manage and supervise a staff of network engineers, delegating responsibilities and tasks as appropriate. • Maximize the effective use of team members to continually improve the effectiveness of the team and to further its mission. • Provide strategic direction, research, budgeting, design and implement of strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets and/or exceeds existing and future requirements. • Provide tactical planning and oversight, insuring projects are on track. Holding staff accountable for results and meeting deadlines. • Collaboratively lead the development of formal processes and best practices to ensure the reliability and sustainability of the network and physical infrastructure. • Provide oversight and be responsible for the planning, design and implementation of Universities physical network, including all fiber, network wiring, network and wireless controllers, switches, routers and wireless access points. • Provide oversight and be responsible for the planning, design and implementation of the Universities server rooms and physical servers. • Conduct research, evaluate and strategize near and future plans for infrastructure related products, services, including cloud, storage, LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, communications, security, and wireless implementations. • Participate in the leadership team’s development of best practices and actively engage in improving ITS and its processes. • Provide oversight and be responsible for the VoIP, and unified communications systems. • Maintain long term (10 Year) equipment replacement and upgrade schedule for network, server, power, and communications infrastructure.
