When it comes to the events industry, “success” for a technical broadcast engineer means understanding and applying technology trends, being across industry standards and methodologies, and tracking emerging technologies. Ultimately, my results have also come from having a positive and openminded approach to resolving issues under pressure, which ensures a highly effective outcome for the event, and of course for the client. My name is John Greenham and I am the Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Head Engineer In Charge (EIC) for MESH Broadcast Services. We are a Canadian owner-operated mobile broadcast and video production house, delivering highly innovative solutions for discerning producers, directors and event managers. MESH was born from a passion to be a client’s ultimate technical partner, bringing their vision of an incredible event to life. To listen to their needs and act as the hub between technical equipment and people – to “mesh” the two together. We are a customer service business that just happens to flawlessly broadcast live events. We listen to our clients’ needs and offer pro-active advice to produce the best possible results. Our production technicians provide broadcast solutions to connect with international digital audiences. We’re easy to work with and we offer the broadest scope of top technical talent to make our clients look great. As Head EIC and CTO, I have responsibility for the provision of production support project preparation – the installation, programming and maintenance of production and broadcast equipment, related IT and IP hardware, and all crew assignments. I also work closely with sales, engineering and consultants on the front-end design phase of projects. With over fifteen years of professional experience in the broadcast industry working on live onsite broadcasts and providing technical co-ordination, support and direction, my over-arching mission has remained the same – to push complex technical and operational boundaries, and try to get the most out of our broadcast equipment to ensure a successful event.
