A FUNNY THING HAPPENED TO ME ON THE WAY TO FINDING MY NEXT MARKETING JOB. Not funny like a clown, but funny like something unexpected. After 30+ years in the corporate/agency/consulting world, I figured there was a plum marketing spot for me somewhere. With all of my experience you’d think ONE company would throw open its doors, wave me in, and let me bring the awesome, right? Nope. No doors opened up. Nothing seemed to fit. During this time I took care of my aging parents (a full-time job, right there!), did some temp work, and volunteered. The volunteer work I did in television ministry at my church turned into a paid opportunity. That made me realize something. My season as a marketer has passed. Funny thing, the passion and the joy for it just fizzled. What I really wanted all along was something more than a marketing position. I wanted to do something meaningful – more meaningful than devising clever strategies to sell more widgets. So now I am taking my communications experience and combining it with a newfound purpose to make an impact for faith, family, and freedom. I’m looking forward to a new season scaling the media mountain. See you at the top!
