About John Gunter

While my official title is Senior Systems Engineer my contributions the last 17 years were almost all ad hoc needs that were otherwise unmet, so I found ways to make them happen, allowing those teams to move their rock forward. I am not a developer but I certainly understand the development cycle and I have written my share of VBS and HTA code. I'm not a QA engineer, but I was deeply involved with the QA team, managing and maintaining its 50+ systems. I'm not a release engineer, but I was involved with the build/release process. I'm not an IT Admin (by title), but a key tenant of my job was windows administration and troubleshooting and I maintained an Active Directory domain. I'm not an automation engineer, but I helped develop an automated test process to leverage the capabilities of our primary application. I'm not a web developer, but I built and maintained a few production AWS web servers that provide software distribution and windows updates to systems. I was responsible for maintaining/creating our installsheild-based installers and I was effectively third tier Windows support for our Customer support team. I have loved every day at work for the last 17 years, because every day was a new adventure. I'm sad to see that end. To that point, I'm not looking for your prototypical "system admin" role. I'm looking to help a company do what's needed, leveraging my existing abilities and learning new ones as needed, to move the rock forward.
