About John Haecker

I’m energized by new possibilities and finding better, more sustainable ways of working. Finding solutions to problems requires a fresh perspective and innovative thinking. Innovation can arise from novel ideas or the application of proven methods to new challenges. I’ve pursued opportunities to work at the nexus of environmental sustainability, organizational development, and human behavior. For instance, I helped the leadership of an NGO develop their organization to support a strategic plan and implementation model around a blue economy. I used an organizational framework for sustainability and growth to identify strengths and obstacles. Together, we formulated solutions and outlined next steps to implement best practices and innovations for success. With my collaborative approach, I’ve helped leaders develop strategic thinking, resourcefulness, and creativity. I’ve also encouraged pragmatic problem-solving and a grounding in principles and values. My approach emphasizes fostering effective processes to set the stage for exceptional outcomes. For my company, I spearheaded several multi-million dollar proposal efforts. Working with a team, I facilitated strong collaboration, cultivated positive relationships with partner organizations, and established high standards of excellence for the proposals. Clear values guided the process, and everyone on the team played a vital role. As a skilled collaborator, facilitator, and communicator, I’ve engaged executives and stakeholders at all levels to inspire commitments and action. Drawing on my background in psychology, economics, and coaching, my current focus is on how positive behaviors, peer-to-peer influence, and individual agency can empower people to make better choices for sustainability and the environment. When I was young, my most cherished memories revolved around spending time with my family and friends in nature—at the beach, in the woods, or even in my own backyard. These experiences instilled in me a profound appreciation for preserving the environment for present and future generations. This continues to shape my work and aspirations. My journey began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, where I taught biology and mathematics to rural village youth. Since then, I have had the privilege to have worked in over 40 countries across five continents. My commitment is to leverage my experience and knowledge to assist leaders, organizations, and individuals in developing innovative strategies, approaches, and behaviors, enabling them to make a positive impact toward a more sustainable world.
