I primarily use scientific literature to find the measurable characteristics for the 26 types of Old-Growth Forests found in the southeastern US (Region 8). I’m using my skills as a seasoned field team leader with I hope to working develop easy to follow field methods so that the Forest Service employees and partners can quickly and accurately identify Old-Growth. I’m particularly interested in Old-Growth forests that don’t fit the architype of having large trees but instead have old, stunted trees or are unique ecologically. I hope my research can help guide active management of even-aged maturing forests to become the Old-Growth forests for future. I have +10 years of field sampling management experience with soil, groundwater, hazardous waste, and air. Specialties: Environmental Reporting, Phase I ESAs, Compliance, Sampling, Biological Surveys, Wetlands, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, data-entry, adaptability in the field.
