About John Hauenstein

Who is John Hauenstein? I was adopted by 2 wonderful people who taught me about the right way to treat people and how to live life to the fullest. I was always encouraged to pursue what I was passionate about, but never forced. I was an honor roll student from elementary school until I finished College. In addition, I was also very involved in extracurricular activities. Band & Stage Band: Lettered, All-City Band, Section Leader, and Captain of the Brass Section Baseball: Lettered Boy Scouts: Junior Assistant Scout Master, Assistant Scout Master, and District Camp Coordinator Eagle Scout / God & Country Award DeMolay: Three time Chapter President. District President (youth group from boys 13-21 at that time) PMC-MSA Award (excellence as a Chapter President) Chevalier Designation (highest award a member can receive) Yearbook This built a very strong foundation in me as I started my professional career. It lead me to understand the importance of continued education, hard work, integrity, and dedication. The last 20 years at GEICO have taught me a lot of lessons. It has made me a more capable and compassionate leader. It has improved my ability to coach people to be the best version of themselves. It has shown me how to balance providing great customer service while maintaining bottom line. Two accomplishments that I am most proud of are my team has consistently been in the top Quartile of our Customer Service Survey results for the last couple years. The second is tied to an internal performance survey covering such things as job knowledge, coaching skills, professionalism, and personal interaction. In 3 of the last 4 years, I was ranked number 1 in the department. My tenure there has influenced me to continue my educational pursuits whether that be working on my Claims Law designations, reading leadership strategy books, endeavoring to secure my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or honing my people and customer service skills. In my spare love to spend time with my family. I play softball regularly with my wife & daughter and we golf when we can. In addition, I enjoy running and traveling. My ultimate goal is to complete a half marathon in all 50 states and run the “Original” Marathon in Athens, Greece. So far I have ran over 45 races with 1 being a Full Marathon, but I have only knocked out 12 states to this point. COVID and some injuries have slowed down my progress, but I will keep plugging away. I guess you can say that is me in a nut shell “never give up, never surrender.”
