For this reason, Nasopharyngeal aspirates or nasal wash specimens are generally considered the specimens of choice for the detection of respiratory viruses. Unfortunately, obtaining an aspirate using conventional nasal aspirators can be cumbersome, and it requires a specialized device such as an electric suction/vacuum device. These features make it unfeasible for widespread use in clinical practice, not to mention unpleasant for the patient. Solution: CoreDx Product development team has designed a single-use and easy to use nasal wash aspirator. In this design, a fixed amount of sterile fluid is gently sprayed, through an innovative dispensing nozzle, into a patient’s nasal passage and then aspirated back into the vial. The vial with sterile fluid and nozzle are fully integrated into one unit, so the wash and aspiration can be done in one single step. No separate vacuum device is necessary making it feasible to use by clinicians and patients.
