About John Hendricks

Mr. Hendricks brings over 25 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and topographic data development. His early career focused extensively on digital terrain model (DTM) development and analysis for countywide and regional studies. This expertise led him to contribute to several pioneering projects that required the development of specialized procedures and standards. He is proficient in a range of GIS software tools, including ArcGIS Pro (with extensions), ArcGIS Online, and associated applications. In addition, Mr. Hendricks is skilled in CAD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD, as well as automated hydrology and hydraulics tools, which he uses to support flood insurance rate map production and digital topographic data development for engineering and mapping analyses. In recent years, Mr. Hendricks has shifted his focus toward sustainability initiatives for local governments. His responsibilities have included scoping, mapping, and performing comprehensive quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews and evaluations for diverse projects. He is also experienced in data attribution, spatial projection, data acquisition and analysis, data translation, image processing, GIS training, and technical troubleshooting. Mr. Hendricks has extensive experience working with LiDAR terrain data, having conducted QA/QC reviews for over square miles of bare-earth LiDAR datasets across North Carolina, Indiana, Texas, and Louisiana. Over the past decade, Mr. Hendricks has applied ArcGIS tools and web mapping applications to streamline operations and route planning for various municipal departments. His work includes the use of RouteSmart, Mobile311, and ReCollect to develop service routes, track infrastructure issues, and communicate service changes to stakeholders. He has contributed analysis for road resurfacing plans, snow removal programs, right-of-way maintenance, and emergency storm debris response. Currently, Mr. Hendricks serves as a Project Manager for the City of Greensboro Reforestation Project, providing GIS analysis to support grant applications and community engagement. He led the development of an ArcGIS Online Hub site that offers the public an interactive platform to explore project goals, understand the importance of urban forestry, and engage with GIS data in a meaningful way.
