About John Hermes

John Hermes has been a leader in several facets of governmental affairs – as an elected official, lobbyist and governmental affairs strategist, and as a leader in economic development efforts. John also has demonstrated excellence in leadership in community and regional issues. John was first elected Greendale Trustee in 1998 and then served nine years as the Chief Elected Official as Village President. His expertise, leadership and roll-up up his sleeves work ethic and led Greendale through the critical times of the recent economic downturn. He has worked tirelessly during this time to reposition and return Southridge Mall to new regional dominance using best practices and creative economic development solutions. John has also been a champion in bringing process improvement and Lean-Business initiatives and practices to his local government. John spent 33 years as a federal air traffic controller expediting the three-dimensional myriad of air traffic at several terminal facilities in the U.S, with most of his career spent at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport. Early in this career, John became involved in federal legislative efforts on behalf of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association and has served in local, state, and national legislative and governmental relations roles. These legislative roles led John to community leadership in his historic community of Greendale, Wisconsin. John has also served as Commissioner and Chairman of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, Executive member of the Milwaukee County Intergovernmental Cooperation Council, Vice President of Aerotropolis-Milwaukee Corporation, and Chairman of the Root River District of the Boy Scouts of America. John Hermes Consulting now delivers its expertise to both public and private entities through assisting and facilitating regional economic growth within the Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin region.
