Background

About John Hodge

My name is John Hodge I am currently a senior at Sam Houston State University and I am currently working for the United States Department of Agriculture: Natural Resource Conservation Service as an Intern. I am currently majoring in Plant and Soil Science and minoring in Animal Science. I have working background in private water distribution services to residential communities, as well as; construction work. I have always wanted to not only work for the USDA but more importantly work to better serve American communities regardless of the area they may be located at. I am very passionate about ensuring that as a nation and as humans we learn how to better cooperate with the environment that we call home. I am constantly trying to better my education by going to lectures about different aspects about modern day agriculture and its ever-evolving practices that help us not only produce crops more efficiently but, also will be sustainable for generations to come. Another aspect of working in a governmental roll that I greatly enjoy is the outreach portion, I find It most rewarding to better educate not only producers but also individual citizens about any topic that they may not be aware of. Now for the future I have a goal to not only one day better the USDA as an organization but the United States as a whole by, learning, teaching, and planning for the future. It has been a dream of mine to work with the USDA and the day I stepped into a USDA office I knew right then and there I was going to great things.
