About John Hodgson

A senior, experienced and innovative Enterprise and Solutions Consultant, comfortable working on business issues from Requirements derivations, through to a final operational capability. This includes securing Cyber and Cloud environments, Integration, Identity, eBusiness and Mobile solutions, when needed to resolve immediate and long-term business information requirements of large enterprises. Clients have included Government Agencies, Solution Providers, and Defence. Typically, these requirements include remediation of high-risk and boundary-crossing networks. Over the years, John has provided SOA, Security, eBusiness, Identity Management, File Transfer, Cross Domain, Risk identification, and Integration directions to new capability development projects within Defence CASG, DSTG and CIOG. The last engagement included revisiting the landscape across Defence for improved management of file transfer, particularly when that occurs across differing enterprise between security boundaries. Previously engaged in upgrading the office and administrative computing solutions for the Defence Science and Technology Group, including architecting how to achieve the complex migration of the current DST admin network across to the general Defence admin network within tight deadlines and resource budgets. Also turns his hand at the occasional Risk and Security Assurance tasks, where an enterprise needs to link business and system risks in a modern and logical fashion. In the past, John had a focus on several Logistic projects and architecture covered the broad gambit of Mobile User devices in complex network environments, through System Hosting options and Integration with other Defence (Logistic) systems. Despite several attempts to escape, John keeps being pulled back to Cyber-Security and Identity Management requirements and architectures. Perhaps they remain some of the more complex issues and solutions to resolve. Around 2015, John provided his knowledge, skills and intellect on a range of complex projects and solutions across the Australian Government sphere of increasing reliance on Internet-connected Public Services and Internal Administrative initiatives. In 2014, conducted an analysis of remaining technical gaps between CASA's old Regulatory System (AIRS) and the replacement EAP system ICT project. Direction papers on Mobility, Integration, and Smartforms. Has a strong interest in resolving complexity, connectivity and security in large enterprise information systems, with the practical common sense that Military and Rural activities can bring.
