About John Holt

John Holt graduated from Christ Church Grammar School, Perth, Western Australia, in 2005. He represented as school prefect, house vice-captain, member of the 1st Australian football team, the track and field sprint squad and the 1st rowing crew. His most memorable achievement being the stroke and best oarsmen of the winning 2005 head of the river rowing crew. John graduated from the University of Notre Dame Australia, Perth, with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Major in Modern History). During his time at university John took full advantage of the opportunities available to him, in particular having participated in the University of Notre Dame U.S. London Law Centre summer intensive programme and spending a semester abroad at Boston College, U.S. John commenced his legal career at King & Wood Mallesons in Perth, Western Australia (at the time Mallesons Stephen Jacques) where he completed the graduate program rotating through various teams, notably commercial litigation and energy, resources and projects. Upon being admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Western Australia John elected to settle in the energy, resources and projects team. In early 2014 John transferred to the King & Wood Mallesons London office to join the corporate transactional team, in particular focusing on private mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. The move to London and shift to corporate transactional law was a challenging and exciting experience exposing John to large-scale cross jurisdictional transactions across a wide variety of industries (ranging from retail, energy, financial services and technology). In early 2017 John joined the Reed Smith LLP London corporate group where he continues to advise and service clients on a broad range of large-scale, multi-jurisdictional transactions and working with clients across a broad range of jurisdictions and industry sectors.
