About John Hunte
I am passionate about arts management, performance, choreography, teaching, and consulting. My research interests include dance and the arts in the Caribbean, as well as cultural studies, gender, performance studies and performing arts administration and management in Barbados and the Caribbean region. I operate from the point of view that "culture is often complex and full of contradiction". I am executive director of the Barbados Dance Project. This initiative provides affordable training and performance opportunities for pre-professional dancers. It is about to launch its sixth summer edition. I am a former Cultural Officer – Dance at the National Cultural Foundation and Artistic Director/Coordinator for the CARIFESTA held in Barbados in 2017. I presently tutor in dance part-time at the Barbados Community College, and a temporary lecturer in dance, gender and cultural studies at UWI, and recently taught CAPE’s Performing Arts Syllabus: Business for the Arts Unit.
