About John Iacofano

For me, cooking has always been a way of life. I was raised in my grandfather’s restaurant—Johnny’s Room 24—a Cleveland institution he ran for over 30 years after immigrating from Italy. My father followed suit, serving as an Executive Chef, a Corporate Food & Beverage Director, and the founder of the Ohio School of Culinary Arts. When he passed away, I was just 19. I stepped in to lead the school, and that experience ignited my own journey in the food and hospitality industry. In I moved to Charleston to attend Johnson & Wales University. With just $98 in my bank account and money coming in from a painting job, I opened my first official Iacofano’s location in June 2001. It started with deli trays and a single sandwich—and evolved into something far greater. Today, I’m proud to lead Iacofano’s Catering & Events, a multi-market catering company serving everything from high-volume corporate events and weddings to high-end private jet catering. Our brands include: Iacofano’s In-Flight Catering – delivering exceptional culinary experiences for private aviation clients nationwide Johnny Q’s BBQ & Oyster Roast – born from my love of BBQ and community, creating immersive, informal food experiences Meals on Wheels & Community Projects – serving those in need with care and consistency What drives me is excellence, logistics, and heart. Whether we're feeding a VIP onboard a jet or serving thousands at a large-scale event, we aim for the same result—happy guests, seamless execution, and memorable food. I’m also honored to serve on the Town Council of Mount Pleasant, SC, where I advocate for smart growth, public safety, and strengthening our local community.
