About John J Healey

John J Healey, Ph.D, P.E, F. ASCE During his career, Dr. Healey has made contributions to the engineering profession as a corporate executive, program manager, consulting engineer, and researcher. He served as the Chairman, President and CEO of Greenhorne & O’Mara, Consulting Engineers, the President and CEO of Raytheon Infrastructure Services and as the founding President of Ebasco Infrastructure. He is currently the Chairman Emeritus of Applied Research Associates a technology firm active in the National Defense, Transportation, Environmental and Energy fields. Dr Healey has led the establishment, growth, and advancement of these national engineering corporations and served actively as the Principal-in-Charge of numerous major transportation, water resources, and facilities engineering projects. After service as a Structural Research Engineer for AISI and the the US Navy, he was a Associate and Senior Structural Engineer with Ammann & Whitney Consulting Engineers responsible for advanced analyses of structures subject to extreme dynamic loads, the design of special structures and numerous failure investigations. He performed comprehensive analytical and experimental studies resulting in the development of military and industry design manuals and has authored over thirty publications in the areas of on wind engineering, blast protective design, soil-structure interaction, earthquake engineering, structural stability, missile impact, lifeline engineering and infrastructure rehabilitation. Dr Healey has also carried out a wide variety of project and consulting assignments in Asia, Africa and Europe and served as a consultant for the World Bank and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at Manhattan College (1962), a Master of Science in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois (1963) and a PhD in Structural Mechanics from Rutgers University (1970). Dr. Healey is the recipient of the Azarias Michael Civil Engineering Medal and the Centennial Engineering Alumnus Award from Manhattan College, the Alumni Medal for Distinguished Service from the University of Illinois and the Loyal Son of Rutgers Award from Rutgers University. He is serving as Vice Chairman of Dean’s Advisory Council of the School of Graduate Studies at Rutgers and as the Past Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for the Rutgers Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. He has been elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a Registered Professional Engineers
