About John Jakel

I have constructed a wide range of projects from commercial thru heavy industrial & infrastructure projects. With that experience, I have developed a go anywhere and build anything type attitude. I enjoy "rolling up my sleeves" and taking on a challenge. My early years in construction were the years that I spent developing my skills working with the field trades and site supervision. Those experiences provided me with a solid foundation of experience to advance my career as a project manager. The contractors that I have worked for typically self-performed concrete, masonry, steel erection, carpentry and millwright services. I enjoy managing these types of hands on operations. This aspect of construction management is especially rewarding since one can stand back at the end of the day and see tasks that have been completed. Those rewards are a result of proper planning, scheduling and coordination of resources. I fully understand the need to properly manage a project to obtain results. As a project manager and also as an owner’s rep, my responsibilities included the typical project management tasks that take a project from conception thru completion. With the experience I have, I am able to develop project budgets based upon conceptual estimates. This is especially helpful when negotiating design-build projects. I have executed a range of project delivery methods; design-build; hard bid; negotiated services and construction management. The project delivery method selected has varied depending upon project size, owner’s desire for a particular delivery method, etc. I have always believed that avoiding a hard bid environment was in everyone’s best interest. In order to avoid hard bids, business development was a key factor. My experience as an owner’s rep has provided me with a unique perspective and provides me with the insight to develop proposals to meet the customer’s needs.
