About John Kimmel

I am a professional creative, educator, game designer, and public speaker; as well as an all-around problem solver. I’m an award-winning graphic designer, illustrator, and recognized as an influential educator. My creative knowledge and interests focus on art, design, and game theory – and related gamification principles. My expertise in these areas have attributed to the successful launch of a variety of video game edutainment titles for companies like Nordic Software and Family Interactive in the past, and more recently for traditional game titles, like Battle for Sularia, from Punch-It Entertainment, and Argent Saga, from Alter Reality Games. In addition to my game design and development experiences, I have had the unique opportunity of creating user-interface solutions spanning generations of age groups – including grade school to senior healthcare applications. Combining these experiences with my current endeavors has afforded me the opportunity to understand the impact of design on user interaction and engagement – balancing aesthetics with functionality with the goal of creating an intuitive and enjoyable experience for the intended user. Whether working for myself or employed by others, I continue to hone both my creative and technical writing skills. I create content for personal, educational, and professional needs – with an attention to detail and focus on clear communication. I'm a self-motivator and strive to inspire co-workers, team mates, and my students. I pride myself on looking at a problem from different perspectives and become genuinely excited when given the opportunity to create new solutions.
