About John Kostic

I was drawn to Data Science because of my fascination with identifying trends and variables to make data-driven conclusions. While I started my education in Software Engineering, I realized that working with data and uncovering insights was a better fit for me. I am motivated to start my career in Data Science using my foundation in business intelligence and data analysis. I completed a Business Intelligence Certificate at Wake Technical Community College, where I gained hands-on experience with tools like Tableau and SAS for data visualization, management, and statistical analysis. My academic background also includes Computer Programming Courses and a Bachelor’s Degree in Asian & Asian-American Studies, complemented by minors in Business Administration and Japanese Studies. In addition to my academic achievements, I bring a diverse professional background. I have held teaching roles both in Japan and the U.S, including my current position as an English tutor, where I track student progress and adjust teaching methods to improve learning outcomes. My time as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan helped me develop adaptability and communication skills in multicultural settings, while also fostering strong teamwork. Technical Skills: • Data Analysis & Visualization: Proficient in tools like Tableau, SAS, and Excel for data visualization and statistical analysis. • Statistical Methods: Experienced in data preprocessing, linear and logistic regression, hypothesis testing, and generating actionable insights. • Programming Languages: Knowledge SQL for data manipulation and analysis. • Business Intelligence: Solid foundation in business intelligence, helping to convert data insights into strategic decision-making. • Database Management: Familiar with SQL and database structure for effective data querying and management. Outside of work and my ongoing pursuit of education, I enjoy reading non-fiction and historical books. I also like spending time in the mountains, hiking and experiencing the tranquility that nature brings. I am currently seeking opportunities in roles such as Data Analyst, Junior Data Scientist, or Data Entry positions.
