About John Kuan

I am a self-motivated and inquisitive Lead Software Engineer with extensive experience building iOS mobile applications and backend APIs. I am passionate about innovation, continuous learning, and leveraging modern AI tools, such as Claude, Copilot and ChatGPT, to improve engineering productivity and decision-making.With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, I focus on bridging technical execution and business outcomes. I work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are pragmatic, scalable, and aligned with product goals. I value empathy, collaboration, and thoughtful risk management, and I enjoy tackling complex technical challenges that create meaningful impact.Over the past year, I have led a mobile engineering team transitioning from Singapore to Germany, serving as the engineering lead for a full mobile application rewrite. In this role, I partner closely with product and design to shape architecture, delivery strategy, and team execution while guiding engineers through change and growth. To strengthen my effectiveness as a technical leader, I have also pursued Project Management Professional (PMP) coursework—not with the intent of switching roles, but to deepen my understanding of planning, risk, and stakeholder management in complex projects.Outside of work, I enjoy photography and travelling. I am actively involved in my local church community and youth groups, where I volunteer in audio and video production and oversee technical infrastructure to help scale the church’s online presence.
