About John Lawrence

I have 29 years experience as a law enforcement officer. I retired in 2020 as a Lieutenant. My assignments included patrol, field training officer, patrol supervisor, SWAT team member and supervisor, rangemaster, department training officer and command staff member. I developed and implemented tactical and firearms training for the department including active shooter response training. I was certified as an instructor in all basic firearms and less lethal weapons. I was selected to attend the F.B.I. National Academy and grauduated in 2013. Additionally I spent a total of 21 years in the U.S. Army (Active, Guard, Reserve) and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2006. I served as an infantryman, calvary scout and military police officer. My positions included team leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, detachment NCO and MOS instructor. During deployments to southwest Asia I served as deptuy warden of the theater high value detention facility and member of the theater detention facility inspection team. Since my retirement I work part time for Gunsite Academy teaching firearms, personal security and tactics.
