About John Lewington

As a Background Investigator in the Human Resources - Recruiting area of the Hamilton Police Service, I conduct Local Focus Interviews (LFI), Essential Competency Interviews (ECI) and background investigations in relation to potential candidates aspiring to be employed as Civilian, Special Constable, Cadet and Sworn Police Constables. Conducted global corporate and criminal investigations in relation to BlackBerry Assets and Intellectual Property involving both internal and external BlackBerry employees, business partners and third parties. My duties required that I work closely with Legal and Human Resources staff in identifying and taking appropriate action for employee misconduct, process vulnerabilities and reducing the external risks to BlackBerry. Numerous processes were either established or enhanced to reduce risk to BlackBerry and as a result I was the recipient of several BlackBerry Star Awards including a 5 Star Award in addition to other awards through its predecessor "and It Shows." During my 32+ year career with the Hamilton Police Service I held numerous investigative and supervisory positions, receiving commendations and service awards including Officer of the Month and Officer of the Year, while developing and mentoring colleagues through their successful promotional procedures. My assignments spanned Hamilton's diverse communities and required immediate analysis, prioritization, urgency, intervention and sensitivity as I worked in partnership with the community, government / social agencies, third parties and the Crown Attorney's Office in pursuit of positive resolutions.
