About John Licitra

John is a mild-mannered professor by day, and an aspiring musician by night. Despite his father’s advice to pursue something else with a “paycheck,” his passion for music kept him playing for years, both professionally and pro-Bono. He has played on several albums, including one by a major pop artist. “Regrettably, I didn’t copyright my music back in the day and was surprised to hear it on the radio, and even at the market! Still looking for closure on that one,” John laughs. Today, John writes and records his own music. He often jokes that he can’t afford to buy any, so he produces his own."No pro audio engineering, fancy EQ, drum loops or even fruit loops! Just rough tracks for those who like to ride the train!” John adds.Aside from music, John also has a passion for education and student success. He’s a two-time Teacher of the Year, recognized by the Board of Trustees, the California Department of Education, and by former Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, among others. John also holds several advanced degrees, including two master’s and a doctorate.
