About John Lozar

jlozar@alumni.niu.edu John Lozar is an experienced RF engineering professional with DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM), which serves thirty-nine public safety agencies in DuPage County and is one of the largest consolidated 9-1-1 centers in Illinois, processing more than one million emergency calls a year. John played a critical role in helping DU-COMM develop a major dispatch center by implementing an asset management program, an IT ticket tracking system and RF safety training programs. These programs have reduced overhead and inventory costs by 87% and improved IT operational efficiencies and system uptime by 68%. As the principal administrator of the technical services division, Lozar has built and maintained business relationships with third-party vendors and has brokered and negotiated deals that have saved DU-COMM substantial amounts of money on leasing contracts and technology updates. In addition, his efforts to keep DU-COMM up to the current state of the art in public safety technology has helped to increase service reliability by 81% over his more than 20 years with DU-COMM. In 2002, John was awarded Technician of the Year from the Illinois Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO) and in 2007, he was selected to lead the implementation and deployment of a major, region-wide project in conjunction with Motorola. Lozar is a graduate of Northern Illinois University Business School and holds the MBA degree.
